The Tintin shop in London’s Covent Garden is the number one port of call for all things Tintin. Initially conceived as a place to sell the books it soon expanded to include the drawings of Hergé in items such as watches, stationary and crockery. Today they also stock limited edition models in resin and metal as well as a glorious collection of die cast model cars.
The Tintin shop had an existing e-commerce offering but the design was quite old and the functionality restrictive. Premm Design approached us with their creative ideas and we developed an open source solution utilising WordPress for Content Management and WooCommerce for the transactional database. A direct link with their Barclays ePDQ account also enables them to seamlessly approve all orders prior to taking payment.
When the website went live traffic doubled in the first week after launch. It has been a huge hit with fans and customers alike.
Premm also wanted to create a bespoke email solution for their client so we created custom HTML templates for MailChimp. The shop can adapt two core templates one for single product launches and the other for more detailed news. Both templates are editable by the client with no input from us.
There are many different ways to get an online shop up and running but it is important to consider your long term goals before committing to a particular product or service.
Turnkey solutions can get you up and running quickly but at a price. As well as providing you with a site template and hosting they will also supply you with a monthly invoice which often includes a percentage of your sales. This is in addition to the transaction charges that will be levied by your bank.
We typically use a payment gateway that links directly to your Merchant Trader account so the only costs you will incur will be those from your own bank!
